Project Overview

The Brownsville School District desired an educational complex that would meet the needs of its students and faculty curriculum. The complex was part of a re-districting master plan combining the high school and middle school programs into one facility. The complex resulted in a fully renovated two story building housing grades 6 thru 12 with a new 1500 seating capacity gymnasium addition.

The HVAC system consisted of a two pipe automatic change over system. The existing boilers were reused in order to bring the project within budget. Dedicated air conditioning systems were provided for the administration areas, computer room areas and libraries. A complete automatic temperature control system was designed for optimum energy savings and accurate space temperature control.

The complete plumbing system was upgraded to current codes and ADA requirements. New toilet fixtures were provided and the existing water heaters were replaced with new high efficiency heaters. The water service was upgraded with backflow prevention devices and sized to handle the increased water demand. The domestic water distribution and sanitary piping was replaced where required.

The lighting system consisted of high efficiency parabolic troffer fixtures with electronic T-8 ballasts in the classrooms. A new electrical service and distribution system was provided. Multilevel switching was provided to suit the various needs of the classroom environment. New fire alarm, intercommunications and structured cabling systems were also included.
